Participant fundraising is the key to our success and the most direct way to ease the burden to find the cure for Parkinson's Disease. All money raised through the Central Maryland Parkinson Outreach Run/Walk goes directly to the
American Parkinson Disease Association.

ALL participants are highly encouraged to set a goal of raising $100 or more. Here are some tips that will help you reach that level of success!

Set a High but Attainable Personal Goal and do your best to reach it! Try to go above and beyond your goal!
Use the Online Fundraising Tool:
  •  Go to www.active.com/donate/apdaccmd08 and click on Become a Fundraiser.
  •  Set up your own personalized website complete with pictures and your personal story!
  •  Email the link to all your friends, family, associates and contacts!
  •  A very fun, simple, and effective way to track both online and offline donations.
Use the Donation Collection Form:
Sponsor Yourself!
  •  Most people are likely to support something if you are supporting it too!
  •  When others know that you have made a personal contribution, they will follow your lead!
Write a Personal Letter, Tell your Story!
  •  Write about your connection to Parkinson's and why raising funds is so important to you.
  •  Suggest a tax-deductible amount.
  •  Include your personal fundraising goal.
Distribute your letter!
  •  Mail to your friends, family and associates
  •  Send as an email to everyone in your address book. (This is very simple and effective).
  •  Take it to the businesses that you frequent (ie, your dry cleaner, hairdresser, favorite coffee shop, dentist (Include the corporate sponsorship form or ask about in-kind donations too!)
  •  Brainstorm other possible contacts: Who do your siblings and friends work for or know?

Contact Everyone you Know!

Think of everyone you know! Parents, friends, relatives, co-workers, doctors, even their contacts. If you send holiday cards, use that list as well. Even after you have made your phone calls and mailed your letters, keep your eyes open for other people that cross your path that you hadn’t thought of. Carry copies of your letter at all times to hand out to people you run into.

Recruit your friends and family to get involved and do the same!

Follow up and be persistent.

Keep track of funds that you have raised on your own fundraising website or on the Donation Collection Form. Turn in donations at the front entrance of Liberty High School on event day.
